In the beginning there was the word. And for The Willary that word was “pants.” I was a few months into a job I didn’t like, trying to figure out what to do next, and one night my partner said to me, “You know, women need better pants.”

Truth. I was tired of seeing women all around me undermined and underserved by their clothes. Whether it’s reining in cumbersome bags, jostling with phones that don't fit in pockets, or constantly tugging up (or down) on clothes that don't fit, women's hands are always occupied.
As a costume designer I spent years perfecting the fit and function of clothing for actors, dancers–and the occasional Grammy-nominated kid’s pop star. And as an intern at the always forward-thinking Outlier I got to play with a and learn about a lot of premier tech fabrics. I connected the dots and I realized I had the skills and expertise to outfit women to tackle their day with abandon. That is, with both hands.
I spent 2 years developing the fit and style of what would become the pillars of our Core Wardrobe: The Core Pants and Core Dress. Finally settling on two good fabric/style combos, I threw a “Pants to the People” party where complete strangers tried on the pants. I listened to their feedback, further refined the designs, and zeroed in on the fabric.
A successful Kickstarter followed and two and half years later here we are, growing in fits and starts. Some weeks it’s just so slow. Some weeks the algorithms must love us and I spend all day packing up orders.
I’m proud that our customers love us and everyday the challenge is connecting with new ones. That’s where you come in. I created this little company but you’re the ones who guarantee its survival. So...
